Senegal -St Louis

Well arriving in Senegal was a huge change from Mauritania and a very interesting process! The roads were instantly better and we could travel at a decent speed again! Our first stop here was St. Louis and old French colonial town and previous capital city. We stayed outside the city at an amazing campsite called Zebrabar. The owners were amazingly helpful, the food was great and the facilities were clean! This was a very happy place to land after the rooftop in Nouakchott. There are many many interesting stories from here that cannot hit the blogosphere so when I get home remind me to tell you all about it! One day we went to town via a boat ride up the Senegal river. The highlights of St.Louis were probably the school children and the fishing boats. The kids followed us through the streets laughing and asking us questions. One little girl about ten said "oh Mme you are so so beautiful, I love your pretty blond hair!" now, how could I complain about that? The fishing boats are a real site to see! They are all colorfully painted and their were tons of them! All through the city you can see the remnants of the French colonial era and the crumbling buildings are really beautiful!
