Chiang Mai

Yesterday, we flew from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. There are many things to see and do here. In fact, I am sorry we don't have a few more days here and may well have to come back another time. We started our adventure with a Tuk-Tuk ride out to the Tiger Kingdom. here we had a fabulous lunch buffet and then went to take pictures with the tigers. Obviously this is not something that would ever happen at home. The tigers are real, they are not drugged and seem well trained but we couldn't help but feel ever so slightly anxious. However, we have noticed that the Thai people are much less rule bound than we are! They aren't concerned with safety precautions! Here are a few highlights from the Tiger visit!

After the Tiger Kingdom we went to the night bazaar and had supper and checked out all the souvenirs. There are many beautiful things and I can't help but wish I had more space in my pack! We went back to our hotel and got a good night sleep. We all decided it would be best to catch up on our rest and decided to sleep in the next day.

Today we slept in and then went for breakfast at a place called Thai one on! We had a great meal and then spent some time booking the things we want to do in the next few days. Once we got mobile, we decided to go to the Wat Doi Suthep ( a temple) and to a hill tribe village. We hired a red truck to take us out into the countryside. The road was long and wound up a mountainside into the mist. This red truck was converted to take passengers in the back like a mini-bus. Our driver agreed to take us to both places for 800 bhat. ($35.00) dived by four people, this was a great deal. While we were sightseeing he waited for us! Here are some pictures from the temple.

Our time at the hill tribe village was rained out! I did get a few nice pictures of the garden.
